8 players can do battle across a variety of tracks and race types, either against rival players or AI, with what is essentially Mario Kart gameplay mechanics and items. As of this week, the game is now out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and 5 stores with crossplay and cross-progression support that means you can pick up and continue playing from mobile to your home console without losing your game save, which is incredibly cool. The game has been out for quite some time on PC and mobile storefronts, although apparently for some, this free to play, live service Mario Kart clone has slipped under many a radar. This past week, we were invited to a press event with Nexon to test out Kartrider: Drift's console release. Obviously, Nintendo's exclusive Mario Kart series is the grand daddy of the genre and it's therefore no surprise that others would attempt to replicate Nintendo's franchise success in some way or another. We've had a plethora of kart racing games over the years, including Crash Team Racing, Sonic Racing and Pac-Man World Rally.
